Once again, Schloss Lieser convinces us with the 2020 Niederberg Helden Riesling Spätlese, a fruity organic white wine fermented in stainless steel tanks. It is a typical Riesling as it comes from the Mosel. The Niederberg Helden site is known for its steep slope, blue slate and old vines. Winemaker Thomas Haag and his wife Ute took over the famous Schloss Lieser vineyard, which was in need of renovation, back in the 1990s. With a great deal of commitment and dedication, the couple rebuilt the winery and - along with a few colleagues - reached the top of the German Riesling producers. Since then, Weingut Schloss Lieser has stood for consistently high quality and absolute top wines. The Prädikat wine from 2020 therefore effortlessly wins us over. The refreshing, summery stone fruit aroma, the spicy, mineral components of the slate, the vitalising freshness and the comparatively low alcohol content make the 2020 Niederberg Helden Riesling Spätlese the perfect choice for a light lunch, a picnic or a social gathering on a balmy summer night. Especially with sushi, seafood and poultry, this Riesling is a real hit.
