We recommend this wine as a companion to various sweets and cakes such as apple strudel, crepes or apricot cake. Also excellent with blue cheese, curry, Thaï food, sweet and sour dishes and duck liver terrine.

TASTING NOTE:

Until the end of the 18th century Maximin Grünhaus was managed by the Abbey of St. Maximin. In 1882 Carl Ferdinand Freiherr von Stumm-Halberg bought the estate with vineyards, agriculture, viticulture and buildings. With a wealth of investment, he built the business into one of the most modern of its time. Quickly, the local vineyard gained worldwide fame under the formerly unified name Herrenberg. However, since significant differences in the soil occur within this slope, the situation in Herrenberg, Bruderberg and Abtsberg was divided, the latter provides the finest wines of the Ruwer. This today from Dr. Gut von Schubert, run by the fifth generation, is one of the most respected icons of German viticulture.
